Dear beautiful soul,
There are seasons in life when your mind wants answers before Allah has shown you the next page. You want to know how something will work out, when the door will open, whether the thing you are praying for will come, and what you are supposed to do if it doesn't happen the way you imagined.
That is where tawakkul becomes more than a word we say. Tawakkul is choosing to rely upon Allah while still taking the steps that are yours to take.
You make the call. You submit the application. You attend the appointment. You apologise. You plan. You work. You make dua. And then, after doing what you can, you stop demanding that your heart control what only Allah controls.
βAnd whoever relies upon Allah β then He is sufficient for him.β
Qur'an 65:3
Sometimes we confuse tawakkul with doing nothing. But trust does not mean abandoning effort. It means your effort is in your hands while the outcome is left with Allah.
Maybe this month there is something you keep replaying in your head. A decision. A worry. A person. Money. Family. Health. A door that has not opened yet. Something you desperately want to know the ending of.
What if August became the month you practised saying:
βI will do my part, and I will trust Allah with the rest.β
You are allowed to plan without believing your plan controls the future. You are allowed to hope without making your peace depend on one exact outcome. You are allowed to ask Allah again and again while knowing His wisdom is greater than your timing.
There will be days when tawakkul feels peaceful. There will also be days when it feels like repeatedly pulling your thoughts back from fear. Both can still be acts of worship when you keep returning your heart to Allah.
So this month, when your mind races ahead, bring it back to today.
What can I do today?
What can I make dua for today?
What am I carrying that was never mine to control?
You do not need to see the whole road to trust the One who sees it completely.
May Allah give your heart calm in what you cannot control, wisdom in what you can change, and beautiful reliance upon Him in both.
